I really liked the writing, but the Victorian setting isn't my typical style, and the triggers inevitably made me too uncomfortable. (Which I think gives credence to the author's fantastic work, really. It creates exactly what it says it could.) Just not for me!

but wow. what a book. i love a good body horror book and i’m glad the author didn’t fade to black with it even for a YA novel. the plot was very well done and the writing is beautiful, making you feel the MC’s anger, frustration, and fear every step of the way. my only qualm is that the daphne/silas romance was a little unnecessary, in the sense that it would have worked just as well as a friendship, but i’m glad to see a relatively happy ending for a t4t couple. just a marvelous read.
