I wanted to love this book -- and I did think the moments at the renaissance faire were delightful -- but the story overall frustrated me more than I expected! Imogene was so naïve and immature -- which is totally understandable for a previously-homeschooled middle school newbie. But I felt like her parents didn't prepare her well, didn't communicate, and didn't support her. I get that her parents wanted to let her learn from her mistakes, but their interactions didn't quite sit well with me.

I feel for Imogene and I'm glad we got to see her start figuring things out on her own. I'll also fully acknowledge that I'm not at all the target age for this book, so I'm curious what middle-school-me would have thought of this book!
