Red Skies Falling is the second book in the Skybound trilogy. It follows on from where [b:Black Wings Beating|36949994|Black Wings Beating (Skybound #1)|Alex London|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1513697694l/36949994._SY75_.jpg|50941835] left off. this was an arc, so things might be different in the final, published form.

can i just say that as second books in trilogies go, this was really good. it didn’t feel like a filler book, as second books usually do.

kylee goes to the sky castle and learns how to control her power, making allies and enemies along the way.
brysen remains in the six villages and learns to protect his friends, his birds, and his home.

the topic of refugees was very appropriate and well-dealt with. another thing was the development of a certain relationship that was absolute butterflies: they were adorable.

Spoilerbrysen’s EYE, i had to reread that scene to make sure i read correctly. my child has been through enough. the symbolism of his father’s knife cutting him, almost ending his life, and wounding him yet again was so painful. i’m glad he’s back with his powerful kickass sister and sweet boyfriend.
this left me on EDGE for the next book!

While not a 5 star like the first book, this one was still super fun!! I love the queer-normative world and the mental health rep. Just a few things didn't perfectly line up for me.
