Jesus Christ this book.
That ending.
The jumps in chronology, alternating narrators, untrustworthy storytelling...
It's so good but it's also so freaking haunting. I didn't know anything about this book going into it, and I think the less you know the better. Please read it.

Heavy, dark, horrific, goosebumps inducing. In all of the worst ways.
Summers nailed it, and the audiobook hits it out of the park.
I was propelled forward the entire time by Sadie’s story, determination, and voice. I couldn’t put it down, even knowing that the end could only be a depressing sort of bittersweet.

The story of a missing girl whose sister has been murdered, Sadie stands out for its unique narrative in the form of a podcast transcript. This style had me engaged from the get-go and the haunting tale proved to be a page turner.

I should clarify that I listened to the audiobook because I can't imagine the format written. As it was, the alternating between narrative and podcast was interesting. However, much of what the podcast conveyed, we already knew through Sadie's POV, though the emotional aspect of those hoping to find her was an added layer. I was frustrated with the ending, which took away an entire star for me. I felt it was a cop out of the author not to settle whether or not Sadie lived. And our investment in her confrontation with Jack/Keith was deflated when we didn't get to see any of it. That was the entire novel leading to a climax that happened off set.
idk why I didn't have this one on my read shelf but ALL TIME FAVE, also best audio book I've ever heard. Just perfect, I cried so much and I know not everybody likes the ending but, for me, it worked flawlessly.
