I wish I could give this less than one star. I tried Amish Fiction.....not.my.jam.
What is up with my obsession with the Amish? Would I really be happy living amongst the Plain? I would die without my iPhone and car... yet anything that mentions the Amish lifestyle finds itself on my bookshelf. This book looked lame on the Internet when it was recommended to me....but (sigh) there was an Amish woman on the cover....and in case, I HAD to read it.
If you can get past the Christian (light) preaching....and get over that a story that should have been less than 100 pages....took over 250 to read...you'll like the book. I appreciate the all the facts the author gave the reader about Amish lifestyle...and her attempt to tell a story, but I was frustrated by her saying numerous times that adoption was wrong...and making it sound like a bad thing. :(
Read the book if you want to learn more about Amish culture (though, you can get the same information from any non-fiction book on the subject), but be patient as the story meanders slowly.

Irritating ending. I'd like to know more about the characters ("the rest of the story"), but this volume irritated me enough -- especially the ending -- that I'm in no hurry to read more in the series.
I found this book predictable, but The twist at the end though I did not see coming! I see lost of things happening in book 2 and 3. I hope it gets better.
