It's reflective, but I can't surpass the amount of normalized hate of different communities I read. I finished it in hope that it would be better, but honestly it didn't. Don't recommend.

As a person who deals with not understatement by closes to me people Completely understand the feelings of the main character. She finds her place, a thing that she loves to do and people are not happy that "the system" of being normal has an error. It's a great book. But I understand it's not everyone and maybe not everyone will understand her like I did.

Compelling, immersive and beautifully written. This book builds an amazing atmosphere around the convenience store. The woman’s perspective and inner voice is just so so interesting. Reading this book made me think a lot about conformity and it’s complexities. Take a few hours out of your day to treat yourself to this reflect, unique book.

Also, you can always tell if you read a good book, or a book that you really liked if you continue to think about it for a while after, and that has definitely been the case here for me.

This book it's so weird. Bc i don't know how to feel about it. I felt kind of sad about how the main character life was constantly questioned. And also i felt like i could relate to things about her too. It made me kind of sad that se couldn't be her weird self in peace. But yeah. I like the end, but im conflicted about something that happened in the book. But it really made me look at life and how society works (and how we are also pieces in this system) in a different way.

An extreme example of what it means to have a calling that no one understands but you. Still, it's a hopeful book in that it shows what's good for you may not always be accepted or understood by society but you should still follow it for the sake of your sanity and happiness. Another theme that resonated with me was putting an end to gaslighting.

i LOVED THIS. as an autistic person, i feel like it represents neurodivergency well, especially someone with internalised ableism, and liked seeing thoughts similar to my own. i however HATED the antagonist. he made some solid points but he’s just a manipulative lazy douchebag and by the end he was pissing me off so much that i had to take stars off. usually i like unlikeable characters but idk i just HATED this man.

Social commentary on the expectations of society vs. personal fulfillment. I liked the first half, but the last half was too sad. Also, I hate Shiraha.
