I was initially skeptical of Before the Coffee Gets Cold, given its popularity on TikTok and in general. However, the novel's beautiful and moving exploration of universal motifs like love, loss, grief, and happiness made it a truly worthwhile and memorable read. It's a testament to the book's power that it could turn a skeptic into a fan.

This is for sure a book that I wouldn't normally pick up, but something about the fact that it's based around time-travelling + coffee made me change my mind. And I'm really grateful for that. I don't remember crying so much while reading short stories! Kawaguchi's writing was truly beautiful and very easy to read. Definitely one of my favorite books os this year!
