A lighthearted slow burn romance with a fun premise. Gently touches on some heavier emotional topics like continuing life after family tragedy, absent parents, and feeling deserving of love in ways that add emotional depth to characters without compromising an overall lighthearted atmosphere to the story.

Solid 4-star read for me! This is such an easy, “I don’t need my brain fully on” book and I LOVED it! It’s so cute, there are so many great Grumpy x Sunshine moments, the burn is slower but the story is adorable. I loved Evie and all her little side notes to herself and I loved the Villain and all his anger issues.
Also I have to be so so fr, you just know he’s hung
Kingsley was a phenomenal character I just wish we’d gotten more of him.

It had promise but ended up lacking.  The pacing felt awkward, the pining was uninspired, the world building was confusing..  I could go on, but it wasn't a bad book.  Doubt I will continue the series.

I’m glad I went into this not knowing much other than the FMC is the assistant to The Villain and they fall in love.

Assistant to the Villain is such a funny romantic fantasy. It leans heavily on the comedy, especially in the first half of the novel, while still being full of heart and character development.

I highly recommend going into this book fairly blind and ready for a fun ride. I can’t wait to read book 2 and get more of The Villain!

I breezed through this book trying to figure out if the villian and sage would realize they’re in love, why did the villian hate the king, who was the leak!? We got all the answers but I’m not satisfied hopefully the second book will add more clarity to the situation.
I’m glad that the villian realized he’s in love but Sage is still in the dark. Hopefully she figures it out while she goes to rescue the villian. Next, I still don’t understand why the king was trying to control the Villian. What are his motives? Also what is he doing with the monsters? Is he trying to find a cure? Is the king actually bad? Lastly, I CANT BELIEVE THE DAD WAS THE MOLE!! Wtf. And I can’t believe he sold his daughter to the blacksmith. He is actually a villian. I hope the daughter tortures the shit out of him.

Also no spice!! The second book better have that too!!
