It be easy to say this is enemies to lovers or sunshine/moody or call it a coworker romance but it really isn’t. The romance is there sure but reading this(while I SO wanted to see them together) I also wanted to see how they interacted with everyone else and see how they realize their feelings. It was more like a romcom where the main characters are more afraid of their feelings than they are oblivious. Over the story was great, awesome fantasy elements, cute humor and all and all a solid read. Sometimes it felt like big reveals weren’t explained enough but that is also a bit of a personal preference. I am also now truly a victim of the book as I torturously wait for the sequel in August.

honestly? it was quite nice, won’t lie.
a literary masterpiece? no, but nice.

HOWEVER IVE GOT A BONE TO PICK AND THAT BONE IS ENDING BOOKS IN A CLIFFHANGER !!!!

babes, I’m a med student that’s so close to finals I can feel them breathing down my neck WHEN IN THE LIVING HELL I AM WILL I GET TIME TO READ THE SECOND PART??

PLEASE don’t end your book in cliffhangers like this. I ASSURE you that if I like the book I’ll gladly read the whole saga even if it’s a nonsensical mess. PLEASE. IM BEGGING (like trystan lol)

I ate this up following a huge reading slump and cried when I finished it and realised that the next book isn't out until August. I have NEVER found a better FMC than Evie. I adore her, maybe even more than Trystan. And having read just about every single adult romantasy I can get my hands on this book had me giggling and kicking my feet and they only kissed once. ONCE. AND IT WAS PRETENDING. I preordered the next one the minute I finished it.

This was so fun to read! It was like reading a magical version of the office, if it were a fairy tale. I enjoyed the secondary characters, the banter and the world-building—I already can’t wait for the sequel!

I liked its concept, but the dialogue and romance were uncomfortably awkward. And I wasn't fully sold on how much of a villain the love interest was. The heads hanging in the lair, among many other crimes, were just so casually described, almost as an afterthought. Also, they just call him The Villain as a title for most of the book. It's so uncreative and boring, you could call him literally anything and that's your choice?
