Ahhh this book is so good! Light and clever with so much personality. Original but also nostalgic and a cute romance with serious issues but it doesn’t feel heavy. I love Evie and The Villain and I was so excited to have his point of view too- I squealed to myself the first time. I can wait to read more and I’m sure I’ll read this again.

This is such a cute book. The world building feels like a combination of fantasy and modern (there's
an accounting office within the "bad guy's" massive, castle-esque manor that's hidden by magic
) in a way that actually blends well, if a bit goofy. It doesn't take itself too seriously in that regard, but it also doesn't come across as sloppy or poorly designed.

While the overall story is quite light-hearted and even silly, there are a few heavier plot points
such as the death of a child and an attempted rape
but they are written rather tastefully and aren't dragged out or made unnecessarily explicit.

The book does set itself up to be a series at the end by leaving a bit of a cliffhanger and plenty of loose ends. From my understanding, there will be two more books and I will definitely be picking them up when they're released.

The combo of office politics in a fantasy world is very funny, and the description of the book is accurate. I feel a bit bamboozled that it ends on a cliff hanger and there will be a second book, I hate waiting for sequels!!! I’ll most definitely preorder it when it is announced— have to know how this wraps up!

The heroine gets the morally grey villain and also goes out for revenge, I say good for her

First 50 chapters were great office company and slow paced. I liked the sort of absurdity of the characters being villains but running a normal office. It felt sort of rom-com-y. Then I feel like the last part of the book shifted gears entirely to all (dark) plot and more stereotypical fantasy plot. I really wasn’t prepared for the sudden shift to a heavier plot. I liked the book, but it felt choppy in the sudden shift.
