I love this book so much. There were a few anachronistic words here and there, but everything else was perfect. Slow burn. Friends to not-quite lovers in this book. Ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. Authentic characterizations, punchy dialogue and banter, character growth, and a clever and well thought out part. I will absolutely read this book again before the next in the series comes out.

Ahhh this book is so good! Light and clever with so much personality. Original but also nostalgic and a cute romance with serious issues but it doesn’t feel heavy. I love Evie and The Villain and I was so excited to have his point of view too- I squealed to myself the first time. I can wait to read more and I’m sure I’ll read this again.

"I'lI remind you that, at your bequest, I haven't actually killed an intern in several months."
Evie shook her head hopelessly. "Sir, I hate to belittle your successes, but there are people who go their entire lives without killing anyone."
His face remained serious. "How dull."

What a bloody fun book this was! I went in a little cautious but completely fell in love. Was it the best book ever written? No, but the entire book was such a vibe. It was funny, sarcastic, heavy slow burn romance, morally grey characters and grump/sunshine vibes. It was just everything you want out of a fantasy romance but no heavy world building.

Also, Evie’s nickname being Little Tornado? Be still my beating heart.

Preordering book 2 immediately.

TWs: injury detail, ref to torture, ref to attempted SA, gaslighting

I really enjoyed this book! I didn’t realize it was going to be a series so I was a little surprised by the cliff hanger ending but I enjoyed it.

This book felt like a magical workplace rom-com lol. I thought there was lots of great witty banter and funny moments. I found myself giggling and kicking my feet. There were some really beautiful romantic moments as well.

There was mystery that kept me intrigued and reading for more I thought the way things unfolded was well done. I loved Evie, The villain and Kingsley. They were loveable characters and it was easy to follow their stories.

I’m excited for the next book to talk about Evie’s mother. I want to know about Trystan’s mother. I want to know more about Kingsley and his situation. I’m also excited to see Evie blossom in her villainy and waiting for them to admit their love to each other
.

Really excited for the next book a nice enjoyable read and it felt right for October while still be light and refreshing.
