Not quite as good as [b:A Year in Provence|40189|A Year in Provence|Peter Mayle|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1535746681l/40189._SY75_.jpg|940715], but still a very cosy, relaxing read about life in Provence as experienced by a British expatriate author who settled there.

This book was a heavenly escape from my studies and from real life. Just a brief idyll in the south of France with lots of food, quirky neighbors, lovely scenery, and some relaxation by the pool or wandering the woods. Mayle's celebration of Provence is a joy to experience, even if it has made living there feel so accessible that the influx of people trying to copy him has made it less of an escape from reality.

Couldn’t get into the short stories. Decided it wasn’t for me.

3.5 stars to be exact. It’s a pleasure to return to Mayle’s Provence with new stories to tell regarding his time and adventures during his time there. The style of writing lends itself to be read out of order unlike his first book that followed the months of the year. I might as well keep reading the rest of his stories!
