I didn't expect all the twists and turns that happened everytime I thought it was one character I was quickly proved wrong. I love the perspective on what they would be like if they where raised not to feel. It was a really great book!

I'm a huge fan of James Patterson and I enjoyed this one a well. I listened to the audiobook for this one. This story is written in the first person, which is a bit unusual for Patterson and I thought the story was laid out very well.

Two parents dead in the master bedroom with 4 kids and an assistant as the only suspects. The story is laid out well and I enjoyed the telling of it by the 16 yr old daughter in the family.

Overall I give it a 4 out of 5.

I was left wanting more of a mystery to solve. Were there clues that I missed? The book itself was easy to read and interesting, but I needed more to pull me in. 82

This was a fast-paced and somewhat-entertaining read. I liked the mystery/detective aspect of it, but I was really disappointed with the conclusion. Tandy and her brothers are both bland and forgettable. I found it difficult to differentiate between the two brothers whose names both started with the letter H. I felt these characters were so similar in personality and dialogue, they should have been one character instead of two. With that being said, my favorite character was probably Uncle Peter.

The actual murder investigation was unrealistic. I thought it was crazy that throughout their investigation, the police never once considered the fact that the “murder” might actually be a suicide especially when it’s revealed that they died from being poisoned. The fact that the handling of this case makes Tandy want to become a detective was very worrisome to me. The story would have been far more interesting if one of the children had actually turned out to have killed their parents.

I’m semi-interested in finding out what happens to Matthew, but I don’t know if i’m interested enough in Tandy’s story to continue with the series. I think for the time being I’m going to hold off on reading the sequel.

This girl seems more upset about her boyfriend than about her parents who just died.

I really did like this book! As someone who usually picks up on plot twists long before they happen. I was very pleased to actually be genuinely shocked when the "plot twist" was revealed. I also really liked the main character Tandoori and felt like I could really relate to get. I feel like the reason I can't give this book 5 stars is actually my fault. I unfortunately accidently read the second book in the series before the first which definitely impacted my reading of the first.

This is one of the best mysteries I have ever read. It is written in second person (gasp!), and exceeded my expectations. Then again, most books in second person are exceptional. The characters become developed thoroughly throughout the novel. The readers are attached but become very wary of the characters and doubt everything they think they know. I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

To be honest, I approached this book with a bit of trepidation as the cover and the title both seemed rather immature. However, upon reading it, I found that I liked it immensely.

The plot was fast paced and exciting, and I found that this was a book I could not put down. The unique characters were interesting to read about, and I enjoyed the exploration of the psychological issues of the Angel family. The book ended with several unexpected plot twists. Despite some foreshadowing, the ending was still surprising and interesting.

My only complaint is a minor one about the structure of the book. The book is written in short chapter-scenes, with shorter commentary by the narrator in between (this was also where a lot of the foreshadowing happened). At first, this was rather confusing, but as the reader goes on, it becomes easier to understand.

I highly recommend this book, especially to teens interested in child psychology and mysteries.
