Reminiscent of a Shakespearean tragedy, over time the protagonist's world is thrown into chaos and the idyllic life he initially longed for just seemed to anguish him.

There are good books and there are good books that are fun to read. It's been a while since I've been so enraptured by a book. I loved and mourned the characters like they were my own friends.

It's definitely not a perfect book, it can drag at times but for the duration of reading it I felt like I was really present and transported to Vermont and Hampden College. I also loved the philosophical and spiritual commentary interspersed throughout and appreciated the classical references (that I understood).

I was satisfied with the ending, I found it touching.

This was a RIDE! It’s been a while since I’ve read lit fic so it took me a minute to get used to the prose and pacing but once I was in I was ALL IN.

"england was so wowed by the secret history they named their king and ~camilla~ after the twins" — I wrote that before even finishing the first ⅕ of the book and I had no idea how true it would turn out to be

I love linguistics so much and this book would get 5 stars if slurs didn't jump scare me every time I started to feel safe again
