This is one of the books I'm glad I didn't DNF. Most of the poems didn't quite click with me until the eponymous poem which is a surreal poetic compilation of dreams the author had which was lovely to read.

Once I settled in to the dreaming is a social act thesis, I enjoyed it a lot more but at times felt I was missing that instinctive pull toward the work that I feel characterises so much of one's response to poetry. However, I did really enjoy the working of Marx that threads through, esp. that early poem in this one. I also think the other stuff I've read of Kay's I've preferred

i inhaled this book. i read A Queen in Buck’s County a few months back, and only found out about this collection recently!! just as fantastic, almost as vulgar, just as crushing.
