I don't like Emmett, all the other character's in the book are pretty good but him as the protagonist wasn't great, in my personal opinion. His constant need to meddle and feel like everyone's against him and projecting his ideals onto others, especially Harrison, drove me nuts. The diversity and discussions of queer relationships and identity were good though.

Short and sweet! Probably won't read it again but I still had fun reading it!

Take a shot every time something falls from the sky or he says “I’m blessed.” After a while it just got annoying and redundant, but it was a good retelling geared towards younger YA audience members

A fun sweet read and I love LC Rosen’s works that revision classics in a queer lens. There were a couple times I felt the plot was overly strange for the otherwise deeply realistic portrayal of queer teens such as
when Emmett’s dad was taking his blood to check for disease.
I assume these odd pieces have some tie back to Jane Austen’s Emma, but at least they were addressed by other characters at some point.
