This book was absolutely amazing. With its twists and turns, White kept us wanting the next page.

The story started off a little cliche and with the addition of certain characters, we were made to believe we (the readers) knew who the criminal was. But I promise, keep reading.

Set at the end of 1989 in the small suburb of Camp Hill in Victoria I first thought this book was going to be a domestic thriller about a girl going missing who the police assume has run away to then having the weird neighbourhood teenager getting the blame. But I was totally wrong!! Christian White had me twisting and turning with each turn of the page with a few shocked NO’S thrown in!
It’s a great writer who can keep you guessing right to the end and continually leads you in a totally different direction. Another gripping, page-turning read!

A teenager goes missing in 1989 suburbia. Tom, a local school teacher becomes involved in the search for the her. I enjoyed this until about half way where it became a bit far fetched for me.
This is absolutely a book of one sitting! I couldn’t stop and finished it sooner than I expected to.
A 17 year old girl goes missing and a school teacher who knew her is worried about her whereabouts. He goes digging and comes up with one single theory that he strongly believed in; a satanic cult.
Set in a beautiful suburb of Australia during the last few weeks of 1989, the book presents a well-researched world of the end of the decade and the era before technology. There are not too many characters and I loved how each person played a role in the book. The characters were built with so much background and input that each one stands out from another.
Although a mystery thriller, in a gist what I saw was how the author made the whole book about one’s family and how important that is to stay together. I loved how the story flowed and the final twist that was presented.
I do not want to give out any spoilers but the last chapter will make your heart stop beating for a minute.

A quick and easy read. This book incorporated a number of layers, that were slowly peeled back and exposed as the story progressed. The story was engaging and held my attention throughout.

Easy to read book that starts off interesting but generally feels a bit predictable and like any other murder mystery whodunnit type book. Main character hard to like. Read in a day. Good for a one off book where you don’t think too hard.
