I liked this Christian White novel - didn't see the twist.

3.5 stars. It was engaging enough, but parts felt a bit unbelievable or maybe underdeveloped. Overall a solid thriller that was fairly entertaining.

Loved the way this finished. Will definitely keep my eyes out for more Christian White, but he does seem to have a thing for religion.

I have been enamoured with Christian White's writing and this book was another page turner. I wasn't quite as intrigued by the twist in this novel in comparison to the wife and the widow, nor was I as attached to the characters. However it was suspenseful and mysterious, even if I wasn't particularly satisfied with the conclusion.

*Thanks to NetGalley and Affirm for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.* I have been a big fan of Christian White's writing since I read 'The Nowhere Child' a few years ago. 'The Wife and the Widow' was also brilliant, so I had high hopes for his latest offering, 'Wild Place' and it did not disappoint. The book is set in the summer of 1989 and focusses on a missing teen from the town of Camp Hill in Australia. As is always the way in a good mystery, thing are not what they seem and people are not who they pretend to be. A thoroughly enjoyable read, that kept me guessing until the end.

I really liked that the characters were all flawed - nobody was a "good person" which made it far more realistic. The satanic panic influence was a nice touch.
