Addictive and twisty. Some events were a bit predictable but there were still enough that threw me.

While the main character is pretty naive and HER perspective makes the story a little fuzzy. Its the epilogue that makes the entire story worth it! The overall story is predictable, the "twist" isn't completely unexpected- and the "monster" is exactly who you expect. I wish we had spent more time at the prison dealing with the actual premise, but whatever. For a quick and easy read it's not bad and keeps you thinking.

This book was really great until the ending. There were twists, there was suspense but like other Freida McFadden books I've read the ending seems really far fetched. It was too contrived.

<Spoiler> I would have loved to see Tim be the bad guy. It would have been more of a redemption story for Shane to have been the good guy.

Also, a kid as a killer? Nah!

I found the protagonist to be irritating and the other characters fell flat for me.
I was expecting more of a psychological “twist”, this felt more like a LifeTime movie.

All Brooke would do is switch between believing Shane or Tim. I was tired of reading about Brooke saying “he’s a nice guy” “he’s hot” about her 2 love interests. Thank god for her 10yr old son Josh, he was the most interesting character even though we only got to read about his perspective at the very end, & learn the truth. What a smart mommas boy

The truth behind why Shane’s mom was out to get Brooke was dumb AF. Killing innocent teenagers because the person you’re “inlove with” won’t ditch his family for you..

There was no mention of Shane’s father, “Margie” Mrs.Nelson making the reasoning for this mess even more ridiculous. I almost want to give this book 2 1/2 stars but because I liked the Authors writing style & speed I’ll give it 3stars. The author did keep me intruiged the whole time even though the story is underwhelming and the main character was annoying & naïve

Freida McFadden writes great psychological thrillers with many twists and it keeps you guessing the whole way through. I enjoy her plots and the premise of her books. Typically I don't connect with the characters and that's fine with me. There were times in this book that I got SUPER annoyed with some of the decisions that the main character made so which knocked it to a 3.75/4 star instead of a 4.5 star. I liked the different clues that were put out there along the way and that she writes great psychological thrillers without having a red herring that made no sense.

I will continue to read her. books because they are fun, quick smart thrillers.
