Read this years ago. Very good from what I can remember.

I first read this over 40 years ago and I was surprised how well it holds up. I'm not a true crime fan, but this is a classic.

This book is terryfing, disturbing, fantastic and overall a very well-written page turner. While the first part of the book is dedicated to the actual murders and their very grinsome details, most of the book focuses on the prosecution's efforts to build a case against the murderers. The book benefits greatly from this focus on the legal aspects of the whole ordeal, since it gives the reader a protagonist to root for. There's so many twists and turns in the legal process and so many surprises during the trial that it reads almost as a wrok of fiction, but the author consistently reminds the reader, with great sensibility, that this was a real crime with real victims. The author refuses to build the cult figure of mason and exposes him clearly as a horrific criminal.

Vince Bugliosi is my hero now.

Utterly gripping and horrifying at the same time. Charles Manson continues, even post mortem, to be one of the most fascinating criminals in American History.

Fascinating. Every aspect from the murders themselves to the investigation to the trials, everything was well written and incredibly interesting.

Having not known basically anything but the basics of the history of the Manson family, this book was quite inciteful. I know that this book supposedly has a less then stellar reputation. But, I still found it interesting and informative regardless. It is quite a lot of info to slough through however. I never realized just how many people they had actually killed that is known of.
