The comprehensive story surrounding the Tate-La Bianca murders. Written by the man who prosecuted and convicted Charles Manson and 3 female members of "The Family", Vincent Bugliosi, this book is a must-read for any true crime fanatic.

I enjoyed the thorough detail in this book, however, it was overwhelming at times. The sheer amount of information - names, dates, and legal terminology - could be a bit confusing and I found myself having to google names to keep track. This was no fault of the book, I just wasn't captivated by the content enough to want to keep track of all the tiny little details in my mind.

An interesting read nonetheless - 3.75/5

This book quite frankly freaked me out.

Presents the facts about, primarily, the Tate-LaBianca murders and court-case clearly as well as builds up tension for the reader. Reading about the Manson Family's beliefs is not only interesting and intriguing but very disturbing; how distant the perpetrators were when recalling the brutal murders is utterly captivating! Some things Manson preached weren't completely insane, like what he described about fear and the Now, nor his interpretation of The Beatles' White Album. One of the only flaws I faced with this book was the fact that the authors sometimes tried, and failed, to make the text dramatic and emotional, instead leaving the text almost ridiculous (like the unnecessary use of the word "literally"). Provides censored pictures of victims, crimes scenes and murderers, and a dark part of me is interested to see the uncensored images but understand if that's a breach of secrecy. Contains a smooth and lighthearted transition between narrators. Very educational.
