Safety gang:
- Age gap (10 years +/-)
- BDSM
- No cheating & no OW/OM drama (her former friend is tasked to sleep with her and she refuses but he pushes a bit)
- Mention/description of physical abuse + sexual abuse of a minor
- Sexual harrassment (not by H)
- HEA (married)

We are immediately shown what happens after that book 2 cliffhanger. Haley is kidnapped by one of her aunts henchman and taken to the Constantine home. There Caroline tells everyone she is sick, has been kidnapped and held against her will. Used and abused by Leo and makes so many lies to ruin Leo and Haley's relationship.

Sadly a lot of the Constantine's believe this lie and are trying to help Haley see she has Stockhol Syndrome but we know she doesn't and we know who the real evil is in this story.

I'm glad that we got to see more of the Constantine kids, especially Winston. I finally get my answer that this is in parallel to Lucian and Elaine's book AND it takes place AFTER Leo published those videos of Winston and Ash. Though Winston and Ash aren't married yet here and neither are Elaine/Lucian. So that is a bit weird since Lucian and Elaine got married rather quickly and were on the run in their book.

Leo finally confesses to his sister and Winston what happened with Caroline and has VIDEO PROOF. I seriously wonder why he doesn't just post them online and let the world see her true colors. It bugs me that she got away with it AGAIN and we have to put up with her once more in the other Midnight Dynasty books.

I loved Leo's love for Haley and how raw it made him feel - he truly saw her as the softness he never got. It broke my heart when he sent her away and said those things to her in order to push her to go.

Overall give this series a 3.5 - 4 ⭐️

What a fantastic conclusion to this trilogy!

Leo and Haley are back right where we left them to finish their twisted tale. Leo's part in the feud between families is heartbreakingly sad. Forced into this life he becomes and anti-hero who will lay claim to your heart just like he did to Haley. Haley too finds herself so embroiled in the lies and she has to fight hard for what she wants. The way these two come out on top is just perfect and I so love when the bad guy (or woman here) has to back down and walk away with their head down.

This beauty and beast retelling is a must read!

This is my second trilogy in the midnight dynasty world. They are dark and have messed up characters but they are also different and unputdownable. I really liked Leo and Haley's story. I actually liked them more than Winston and Ash in [b:Stroke of Midnight|55556938|Stroke of Midnight (Cinderella, #1)|K. Webster|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1601840601l/55556938._SY75_.jpg|85387750] even though Ash was probably crazier and more badass than Haley.
Both trilogies were fun to read but definitely not for everyone. This trilogy was less uncomfortable to read but also less funny compared to Ash's story. But I really liked the character dynamics and relationship developments.

WHAT AN EPIC FINALE!! Amelia has saved her most intoxicating, beguiling, and spellbinding book in this trilogy for last- the perfect conclusion to this erotic, sensual, and deliciously dark beauty and the beast masterpiece. I was transfixed from the first word to the last, desperate for our star crossed lovers to find a way to conquer the evilest of Constantines, but even more desperate for our beauty and our beast to be free of their pain.

Like Haley, I’m a captive- completely owned by the intoxicating dark magnificence of Leo Morelli. HE IS EVERYTHING. Hands down Amelia’s most compelling and nuanced hero to date. And, the Morelli beast is ironically the soonest Midnight Dynasty leaning man of all. Amelia has created such a profound and compelling character evolution for this long-suffering, tortured man. In this finale, we see the full spectrum of what makes Leo Morelli- from the savage, ruthless, carnal urges of his repressed beastly nature to the altruistic, unconditional, pure love he oozes as he selflessly sacrifices for his family and Haley. But we see the entirety of the man in this conclusion, and he is breathtaking. Whereas the fabled beast wore his beastly guise as the result of a curse, Leo has donned his beastly persona of choice. He’s created a weaponized visage that protects him from exposing his pain, his trauma, his heart. But now we see the most beautiful, soul shattering aspect of this man- his vulnerability. And while we still have our alpha, dominant, possessive Morelli king, we also have a wounded, gentle, devastating besotted hero. Amelia gives us both beast and prince- and THIS IS HOW YOU EVOLVE A CHARACTER! I was transfixed by every word. His past broke my heart, but his arrestingly beautiful way of loving Haley shattered it completely. The power of his heart was truly breathtaking, I felt his pain and devotion in my very soul. Our prior books helped us understand his dimension, but now Leo has to come to terms with all parts of himself. And it’s less about harnessing the beast, and more about accepting his goodness. He has to expose all of himself, and sweet and solid Haley loves him for every piece.

“I’m the beast now. The nightmare….

I see you for what you are. You’re a prince. My prince.”

Haley is his perfect match- the light to his dark, the submissive to his need for control. I loved how unwavering she is- she knows what and who she wants, and she never falters. Despite the countless obstacles her family and the vicious matriarch Caroline Constanine throw her way. She’s so pure of heart, but she’s not naive. She doesn’t want to tame the beast- she wants to accept and love him, and she also wants to help him see that he’s more than that. And in doing so, we also see her blossom, as his partner, as his equal. We see her become more than the poor Constantine captive, the pawn. I appreciated that Amelia found ways to keep her soft- but she also is POWERFUL. Their chemistry is still combustible and scorching, but now with SO much emotional dimension, because they finally are emotionally bare to one another. Completely honest, exposed, and it only strengthens their connection.

While the story has certainly veered from its beauty and the beast beginnings, Amelia finds ways to keep nodding at the themes of the original, but with her own brilliant twist. Our climatic is her best and most impactful referential moment of the entire series- I literally could not breathe I was so consumed by emotion. And, like our second story, this book is more metaphysical in focus- about the emotional wrestling these characters are doing with themselves, so our story remains deliciously meta. You feel so intimately connected to them both. And the prose is beautifully composed.

And just when I was lamenting that this engrossing story was turning its final page for good, Amelia gifts us with an epilogue that sets us up for a spin-off that has me SALIVATING. One that I can only hope gives me a chance to dance just a little while longer with the beauty and her beast. By far one of the best stories yet in the Midnight Dynasty world, and one of my favorite Amelia Wilde series ever.

I just omg! Caroline is horrible!!!!! I'm so glad that Leo took it to Winston! I love that he tried and that there is a tentative peace with Winston and Leo. I'm so glad that everything worked out for both Leo and Haley. And I so want to know more about Hades and who he is! Like what in the world! Ugh so many questions still.

i don’t care how caroline constantine dies but this woman who emotionally neglected all of her children & pitted them against each other (skyscraper cinderella), this woman who shamed her daughter for trying to speak up about how she was being sexually abused & groomed & raped every fucking weekend for her entire fucking adolescence (starcrossed lovers), this woman who raped a fourteen year old boy multiple times & assaulted him leaving him near fucking death, this woman who orchestrated the kidnapping & attempted rape of her niece just to emotionally blackmail the boy she has spent 18 years torturing, this woman who forced said niece’s sister to abandon her highschool sweetheart for the fucking family name — she has to die. i don’t even care if it is painful. i don’t care if she suffers until she breaks. i just want her dead. i want her dead in the fucking ground.

the midnight dynasty is not a collection of “love stories” (heavy air quotes because they’re fucked up and no one has ever heard of consent in their entire life) between two rival families. the midnight dynasty is the orison of caroline constantine’s crimes.

so i want her dead. i don’t care how you do it. write it. i’ll buy it.
