And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

“SHINICHI, I KNOW HOW
YOU FEEL. EVERYONE'S
AFRAID TO DIE...
AFRAID OF BEING
KILLED. INCLUDING
ME. BUT EVERY
MOMENT COUNTS!”
And with this volume read, Parasyte has come to an end and I’m perfectly content with everything about this manga. It flowed perfectly, the pacing was immaculate, the character arcs were some of the best I have read, and the illustrations showed some of the most graphic violence I have seen. But I never felt that feeling of going above and beyond that my favorite works of literature do that make them my favorite. Everything played out exactly as it should have, and while those might’ve been the best choices from a storytelling perspective, I never felt that it pushed the boundaries of what it was trying to do. This might just be held the final chapter of the story played out, but I really do feel like there was a lot of comparisons to Thomas Harris’ Red Dragon. Both Red Dragon and Parasyte phenomenal works of literature and manga, respectively, But both laid the groundwork for unique subgenres of entertainment that have been copied in every way shape and form to a point now we’re reading the original source material becomes diluted and nowhere near as special as it was when it released. Is it still amazing, absolutely. What I recommend this to most anyone, yes I would. Overall, Parasyte the journey of Shinichi and Migi is going to be one that sticks in my mind and I know will be forever unforgettable.
