I’m debating on if I want to read the second book now. Overall I really liked this book. I kinda wanted the romance to be even more of a slow burn for this storyline. While the writing made certain elements obvious such as Forte not really being Forte for majority of the book the author got me when the murderer was revealed. I never would have suspected this person.

⭐️: 3/5
- It took me a lot time to care about the characters (like 60% in to the book)
- I did enjoy seeing Roz and Damian’s relationship reignite (second chance romance)
- Though there is a lot of world building with the magic and religious system, there is very little about the rest of the world/geography
- The murder mystery plot was very intriguing! Though the religious mystery aspect was relatively unsurprising
- Though it ended on a cliffhanger, I’m not dying to pick up the next book
- I enjoyed the complexity of Roz and her lack of full commitment to any one side, instead caring more about the end result than the allegiance that helped her get there

Set in the Italian-inspired world of Ombrazia, Seven Faceless Saints follows the story of Rossana Lacertosa and Damian Venturi as they team up to solve a string of murders in their corrupt city. While the novel presents an intriguing plot, the characters and world-building lack depth, which might leave the reader wanting more. Despite this, Roz, a disciple of Patience, adds a spark of interest to the tale, which kept me engaged until the 100th page. After that it fell too flat for me to continue. However, the themes of power, corruption, and sacrifice adds complexity to the story, making it worth reading for those who enjoy a blend of murder mystery and Italian-style storytelling. Just don’t expect too much.

I was just never at any point in time into this. None of it felt unique or interesting - the characters were blah, the chemistry was nonexistent, and it was like it regularly forgot aspects of itself and had a hard time making all the pieces coexist -- Roz's magic, the Saints, Chaos, the murders, the rebellion -- it could only manage one thing at a time and had to drop everything else to focus. It wasn't terrible, and I'm sure other people will enjoy it, I just could never manage to care about a single aspect of it.
