Seven Faceless Saints

M.K. Lobb

3.5 AVERAGE

It took me more than two months to get through the book. No, the plot wasn't boring or repetitive. It just didn't click. I sincerely hope you give the book a chance because it might be the one for you. Who knows!

While I love the world building ( The incredible amount of thoughts and efforts that were put into perfect it is commendable), I don't like how it was unnecessarily stretched. The romance felt forced and the writing was very stiff. I wish it wasn't rushed. But if I were offered to read the book again, I would because the universe Lobb created is interesting and I really admire it.

Give second star only for sex scene. Yeah! Finally girl on top. Otherwise book is useless. Especially if you read Agatha Cristie before - i knew who murder was *literary* from two first pages. And there are literary nothing yo read this book for, if not for murder mystery. Dull languge, boring/bad written characters, everything painfully predictible.
mysterious tense

First 1/3 was pretty good and the way the mystery was set up was compelling, and then it gradually went downhill for me. Regrettable, especially since I personally quite liked Damian :c

This book is the blind leading the blind. Such weird decisions and reasoning for said decisions.

This book gave me the vibes of Serpent & Dove, and since I loved that book, I had to give this one a try. It was interesting. In a fantasy world where the religion is based on 7 saints and their descendants, one of the saints has fallen and its disciples are trying to bring him back. Roz is a disciple, but not by choice. She would have preferred to not have shown any magic at all. Damian, on the other hand, would really want magic. The two were childhood friends, but war and their family tore them apart. Reunited during an investigation to solve serial murders, the two comes face to face with their feelings and a truth they weren't expecting.

I like how complicated the characters of Roz and Damian are. There is a lot going on with them, and they need to find themselves and be true with each other before something can come out from their relationship. I'm curious to see how the story will continue.
