Such a clever book. Very engaging, if a little hard to keep all the characters and their relationships to each other straight. Some incredibly important commentary on blind faith and censorship. All in all, what a read.

The concept of Ella Minnow Pea is, at the very least, fairly intriguing - an epistolary on an island where letters of the alphabet are slowly getting banned. Yes, it is absolutely a corny attack on censorship that leads to some mediocre storytelling, but the novel doesn’t overstay its welcome and is kind of cute sometimes. Not really worth a read, but fun enough if you like words and letters.

This book is very interesting, concept-wise. Unfortunately, I did not care about any of the characters, and the plot felt very repetitive. Ultimately, where this could have resulted in a strong message about totalitarianism and censorship, it ended up feeling like a game the author played that I sat down and read. Additionally — most of the characters were women, but felt like they were written by a man.

Quick, fun, and silly read. I learned so many new words!

A fantastic book with a fascinating premise. The format, characters, and overall design/typographic elements created such a charming and memorable book. The political commentary was a bit transparent, but it worked well with the progression of the novel.

It’s just so clever?!? It doesn’t need to rely any kind of gimmick or trope to keep it alive, the concept alone carries it completely. Brilliant and utterly unique! This could never translate to any other form of media and is absolutely worth the read!
