This is an incredible book, the pictures are stunning, beautiful and magical, but reading the stories of the people is what makes this book extraordinary.

I didn't get to read this book - just a flip - but I spent a good amount of time looking at this photography and getting in a couple of blurbs. Excellent work! Really beautiful!

(not rated because I didn't actually read a majority - but 5/5 so far)

Full disclosure: I participated in the Kickstarter for this book and had high hopes for the finished project. I cannot express how much this beautiful book exceeded my expectations. Matika Wilbur has captured contemporary Native life in gorgeous photos and words. Please keep going Matika. The world needs this.

Beautiful. Moving. Informative.
The worthy culmination of many years of work.

I read this book in bits throughout the summer after deciding early that the book would be my choice for the Indigenous Author square on my library's summer book bingo card.
The reverence Wilbur shows the people she interviews and photographs is beautiful. Every photo made the subject look stunning. She is such a talented photographer. Many stories and photographs were so powerful you couldn't help but tear up. To see the history of America through a Native American lens is a huge gift for us readers. I learned so much and my perspective changed again and again. Highly recommend everyone read it. I hope she continues this work. Special thanks to Seattle Public Libraries for making this a Peak Pick selection, I might not have seen it without it being on that shelf.
