The concepts of this book were good but it honestly could have been about 3 chapters. There was a lot of repetition and the chapter from his daughter was unnecessary. It is also very clearly written by a white male so there will be no consideration in his advice as to how that effects his life and advice.

I’m not a fan of personal development/growth/self-help books, but I rather enjoyed this one. It got me back right.

I was really into it for the first 80 pages or so and then I started feeling like I was in a loop. Repetition over repetition over repetition. While the concept resonates, I feel like this could have been sharpened up a lot. I browsed through the rest of the book not feeling like I was missing much new information.

I really wanted to love the book. It was repetitive and at times condescending. Nothing like discouraging peoples hobbies and what makes them happy because it’s not “propelling” them forward in life. It would say it wasn’t doing that and then do just that. There are better habit books out there that are more than coining a term for something that you didn’t come up with.

Since becoming a representative for doTERRA essential oils, I've started on a path of personal development. The Slight Edge has been recommended to me over and over and now I can see why. It's the book that you should read before reading all other personal development books. Sort of like the book Lit that I've reviewed before, The Slight Edge is a book that helps you process information received from any other book, audio, or mentor. So read The Slight Edge, then read the parenting, finance, diet, or any other personal development book you want. You'll make better use of the information.
