Going into this , I wasn't very enthusiastic about the prospect of reading this book , simply because I DID NOT enjoy the previous book . In fact , not only did I not like the first Beartown book, I somewhat hated the characters of Beartown . Hence the hesistancy .

WHAT I LIKED :

All that said , I thought this book felt a bit more comforting to read , the characters somehow grew on me , and I understood the motivation for all the characters so that i understood that no one is inherently good or bad , we all are just trying to do the best that we could do .

In Richard Theo , the author gave us an entertaining character , who stayed mostly on the sidelines but pulled everyone's string and made his every move feel like a chess move and kept me guessing and wanting for more at the same time.

The book as a whole felt easier to read in terms of it's pacing and even the final act and the ending were much tightly wound together  . The aspect of toxic fandoms , bullying , trying to find your own identity and sport tribalism , all felt close to home and relatable for me .

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE :

My biggest issue with the whole series as a whole has been the fact that the key theme or rather the key issue the book talks about , i have read and experienced the issue done better elsewhere . As in other books or media. For this book , i thought that the author brought the issue into the front only to than deviate from said issue and focus on other characters and their ways of handling things.

Talking of characters, many characters felt like they had been forgotten , Amat and Maya are almost meagre in their appearance in this book , whereas a character was bought from jail and the moment he arrived I knew what his eventual fate would be . It was that predictable .

OPINION

I'd say , that this is the better book in the beartown book series , however i fail to connect to the characters and the prospect of reading the book feels more a chore than a hobby or fun activity. Having said that i have made up my mind to not read the series any further. The book ends in a decent way , and i feel it's enough for me to get closure

Ugh. I have like his other books so was looking forward to this one. Overly preachy and gimmicky. Not sure why I finished it.

I did not think Beartown needed a follow-up, yet I was mistaken. The stories of the people of the town fill you with a sense of longing and an unfulfilled sense of hope. I appreciate this town that Backman has created. I so desperately want every one of the characters to get a happy ending.

The slowest start of my life! But came good in the end.

I love the emotional depth to all the characters. The choices between right and wrong (or maybe not so wrong). The love you have for yourself, your friends, and your family. Fredrik Backman has done a fantastic job of setting the scene from summer to winter, from lake to forest. It all comes alive, painted vividly with his words. I enjoyed the writing style which is similar to Beartown. It flows effortlessly from one scene to the next from current day to the future. Such a good read with characters who will stick with you long after you finish.

Shit! Bagus bangeeeetttttttt
Sempat berhenti saat baru 20%an karena kesibukan dan 2 hari yang lalu mulai membaca kembali.
Oh God! This book was so intense!!! So real life too! I mean look our society now, exactly same like what this book describe. Everything is politic. Politic is everything. Shit! I hate politic.
Seperti di novel sebelumnya, di novel ini pun aku menangis. Shit sedih banget lah.
Endingnya cakep sekali menurutku. Cakep tapi sedih tapi memang ending sedih begini yang terjadi dikehidupan nyata. This book really reflect a real life. Kayak memang begini lho yang terjadi di dunia nyata dengan segala bullshit nya. Duh!
Ku cinta sekali dengan gaya menulinya Backman. Witty tapi serius tapi berbobot tapi keren. Segala-galanya deh Om Backman ini.
Wah jujur aku masih greget nih sama Beartown. Kebiasaan kalau habis selesai baca buku bagus pasti jadi sedih karena akhirnya selesai.
Thank you, Backman, for once again give me these chills when I read a very good book.

Fredrik Backman is an amazing author! Just when I think I have read his best work he blows me away with an even better book! This book had me chuckling and crying. It was wonderful to read about the continuation of some of the Beartown characters’ stories and new characters. My only complaint is the overuse of the word darling…gag! Ready to read Winners now!
