This is a book set at Christmas mostly focused on a family dealing with grief, some long buried secrets, and the mystery of a found heirloom. There are some Christmas feels but it's secondary to the story.
Stella just annoyed me for most of the book. I had issues with her ethics dealing with a conflict of interest with a patient. I found her pretty selfish and not very empathetic to her mother who was dealing with her first Christmas without her husband. I also roll my eyes at the promotion awarded at Christmas which will require immediate travel on December 26 trope.
The narrator is very good. She also narrated The Magic of Sea Glass that I listened to earlier in the year. Her male voices do tend to sound similar but in this book there are only two main male characters to keep track of.

Would’ve given it four stars, however as the book went on, I found the FMC to be irritating in her back-and-forth emotions

I liked that this was a very different type of Christmas romance story. But it was hard to like the main character given her history, and then how she almost practically snakes back into her ex’s life. I couldn’t connect with her at all. This was definitely a slow burn read and I struggled at times, though it had some touching moments too.

Oh yes taking advantage of a vulnerable patient and lying to someone in recovery. So romantic.
Let's not forget leaving your husband without talking to him.
So much of this story didn't make sense.
