Griffin and Ren are cute. Griffin and his brothers were “cursed” after a night partying in New Orleans. Ren moved from LA to a small town in Maine. Her first day gets in an accident because a moose tried to commit suicide in the road. A cute firefighter, Griffin, came to the rescue and saved her. They’re always running in to each other and fall in love. Griffin finally learns his curse isn’t real when he finally meets with his late wife’s mother and she tells him there was nothing he could have done to prevent her from dying of a heart attack. He finally goes and gets his girl forever. It was a very underwhelming sorry tbh but it was a good book that I didn’t want to DNF. Smut was minimal, but good.

This wasn’t my absolute FAVORITE Meghan Quinn book, but the free read-and-listen was great and I appreciated the low-drama read for sure.

📕 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: That Second Chance by Meghan Quinn

📙 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀: Getting Lucky character series. Book 1.

📗 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘀: Audiobook on Kindle. 🆓️ on KU to read and listen.

📘 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗿𝗲: Contemporary romance

📔 𝗧𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝘀: Small town, romcom, love after loss, new girl in town, slow burn.

📖 𝗦𝘆𝗻𝗼𝗽𝘀𝗶𝘀: Griffin and his brothers had a chance encounter with a mystic who cursed them never to find love - and soon after, his wife died. So when he meets Ren, the new girl in town who seems too good to be true, he refuses to fall in love in case the curse strikes again.

🌟 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄: Super light read with almost no drama and a great happily-ever-after. So, that’s kind of what I want in every romance novel.

There was a lot of tension in the slow burn, and a super cute happy ending. I can’t really complain m…

This is a four year old book, and I tend to love how MQ’s writing has grown over the years. Ren was a little bit of a shallow FMC, and she came off a little desperate at times.

I’m still going to read the rest of the series, though. Because I’ve never met an MQ book I hated.

𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 3.5/5 ⭐⭐⭐

𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹: 3/5 🌶🌶🌶

I was not really into this book at first. The first thing that happens is all four Knightly brothers get cursed with broken love. I don't usually mind a little paranormal in the plot, but for some reason i was just not feeling it. I gave up after the first few chapters. Eventually I ended up coming back to it a few months later and finished the book. It wasn't bad, but there just wasn't anything special about it. Not my favorite book by this author, not sure I'm going to continue the series.

UPDATE. I got bored and read the entire series. Each book gets better and better! The first two brothers are more on the serious side, the second two brothers are a lot funnier. I prefer the comedy (Meghan is so good at it!) so I liked the third and fourth books the best.
