Rita Moreno's memoir takes us on a journey into Rita's life. From her childhood beginnings up to old age. This includes her complicated and racist history with Hollywood and having to play sexist and racist stereotypes of "ethnic" women as well as becoming the first Latina to not only win an Oscar for West Side Story, but also became the first Latina to get a PEGOT (Peabody, Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony). Rita also shares, in her memoir, the infamous toxic relationship with Marlon Brando. In this book, Rita shares every moment in her life that has made her who she is today. It is a fascinating read and has made me respect her even more as a person. I can tell that writing this book was quite a healing experience for her and it was her way of coping with those painful and positive moments.

Her documentary is also great, but her book definitely explains more of what was left out in the film
