I kept feeling like this was building towards something more exciting but ultimately it felt anticlimactic.

Essentially this book is a horrific road trip story and Woodstock 1999 retelling with supernatural elements and despite that sounding interesting it really takes this concept nowhere. It just feels like an exploration of failed dreams and frustrations that don’t add up to anything truly horrific. The only thing horrific in this were men taking advantage of and harming women but that’s mostly glossed over and I can’t quite figure out why this book ended in as boring of a way as it did.

This was my least favorite of his books so far... I didn't think the writing was very strong and I think it relied too much on metal references.

Grady Hendrix has clever ideas.  This book had a few of them and a couple of tense, scary moments.

I’m speechless. Grady Hendrix never disappoints. I needed this book.
Strongly recommended for anyone who loves metal, is a feminist, who feels crushed under the weight of forces beyond their control, or who has never liked anyone telling them what to do

Audiobook’d. Loved the gravelly-ness of the narrator’s voice.

Think this is my favourite Grady Hendrix book so far. I like that his main characters tend to be unlikeable, believable older women.  I also really enjoyed the gore scene because my face was like 😮 while listening to it happen.

I do think the book had too many bad guy speeches in it but nitpicking really

This book is genuinely scary. I couldn't wrap my head around how a book with this basis could be a horror and I kept thinking this until the first horror scene. From then on, everything is terrifying. Can't wait to read more of his works!
