I was excited for this book. I enjoyed the first two in the trilogy immensely, and I was prepared for this to be merely good rather than brilliant. I was wrong; this book IS brilliant. And you better not be reading at night when you reach the last third of the book because you. will. not. put. it. down. Thank you, John.

A new Scalzi title means the everything else in my to-read pile gets bumped down a slot.
This was an excellent finish to the Interdependency series. Come for the world-building, and you'll stick around for the characters-- the good, the bad, and the smart-ass. Shout out to Wil Wheaton for his reading of the Audible version-- you can almost hear Nadashe Nohamapetan twirling her mustache.
I really enjoyed this finale to the Interdependency series. As is usual with Scalzi it was a page turner, quick, great dialogue, great characters (Kiva Lagos has become one of my favorite characters in all of literature) and a decent setup.
No spoilers here but he wrapped up everything nicely albiet rather quickly.
On the downside ~ there was so much potential for what could have been in this series. The concept easily lends itself to a 10 book series because there is just so much content that could have been explored. Scalzi chose not to do that and instead focused on a small section of characters that just happened to be the most powerful people in the universe.
But that did not change my enjoyment of the series.
My rating is not how good the literary merits of the book or series is....My five star rating is based on my enjoyment of the book and I read this book during our current lockdown in the middle of the pandemic so it was the right book and the right amount of entertainment for me at the time.
If you liked Scalzi before then you will continue to like him with the book/series.
If you haven't liked him in the past then this book/series will not change your mind as it is classic Scalzi.
Good stuff - recommended.

Well, this one does have a plot twist. A bold one. That's how it went from 2 stars to 3 stars with me. Also, it's fast pacing and generally entertaining. There are though annoying and much less appealing things like high talk and profanity mix that gets on one's nerves all the way up to the end. Still, that twist earns forgiveness. Some of it

Felt like he didn’t do his true skills as an author justice with this one.
