I checked this out to read/compare Harte's stories related to The Shirley Letters. I read "Luck of the Roaring Camp" twice hoping I'd pick something up enjoyable but it's a spoof of the Letters and "Outcasts of Poker Flats" was just not anything I could get into despite its sad irony.. I imagine the stories were entertaining for their time, but the fact he'd written 10 volumes of this stuff just goes to show there's an audience for anything. A big 'meh'.. Life is too short to read something you don't enjoy..

Brett goldheart's stories were taking place in 1800s along the time of the gold rush. He told different stories from around the time of the gold rush. Quite interesting and funny stories. Was definitely a good book to read and a quick read.
