Actual rating is 3.5 stars. I felt the beginning was very slow and I didn't like how Rachel kind of made a love triangle, but I really enjoyed the end. Also, something's that happened in the end surprised me.
4 ⭐️. I really like this book. It was better than the first book and is setting up for a good story. Eden is finally growing into herself and I’m loving that Kiran is officially a bad guy. I was sick of him.
The grammar was slightly better in this book, and I enjoyed the storyline more as well.
Omg so many thoughts and feelings about book 2. I believe this is Eden’s Phoenix moment. Seriously, how much hurt can one person or immortal take at this point. I am loving where Rachel is taking this story because I have no idea of the outcome of the next book. I love this version of Eden and Avalon. Only time will tell. I will continue to read on. On to book 3
So good! The India adventure was so cool and vivid, I could imagine being there.
Another awesome book in this series. Listening to these on audible I feel like gives you the full experience! The narrator does so many great accents and really brings the characters to life. I’m glad I discovered this because I drive a lot and it’s highly entertaining. It may seem to be a bit on the younger side of YA fantasy, but I still recommend it to anyone into magical stories and forbidden loves. Also, great plot twists await.
I feel like I always say this with my reviews but, where to start with this book.....?
Hopeless Magic picked up directly where Reckless Magic let off, so I'm going to start my review the exact same way. Pretty straightforward, lets start with Eden.
Eden in the beginning of this book was whiny. I made that note when I was on page 53 so beware. She stomps her foot a lot and I mean a lot. I literally wanted to nail her foot to the ground every time that I read a sentence that ended with her stomping her foot. She gets better through the book and by the time we get to her Walk I feel myself starting to like Eden again as much as I did in the first book. I liked how she started to actually get irritated that she didn't know what was happening or what some certain things meant. I feel like before she was just going with the flow and asking the bare minim of questions without really caring. But I love how she isn't letting the fact that she still has a lot to learn stop her from doing things. She isn't cowering in the corner because she's too scare to do anything with the repercussions. Not saying that Eden is throwing everything to the wind but she isn't overly cautious and I like that personality trait about her. Also Eden is snarky in Hopeless Magic and that made for some very entertaining parts of the book, specially with Kiran and Sebastian. And Eden is often scolded for forgetting to use her magic to help her with certain things just in general, and I didn't find myself getting mad her like the other characters were. I feel like that made her still human? Like she didn't suddenly find out she has these powers and just completely forgets her human roots....
Next we'll move on to Sebastian because I can't say much about him without giving away spoilers I will say one thing. I don't like him and he's an ass.
Then we have Jericho, ugh. I started off being okay with him as a character at the beginning of the book and after a couple chapters of him I had decided that I did not like him. I feel Jericho's sudden feeling towards Eden were just spur of the moment. Like the author had thought, "huh I gotta add another boy into this!", and then just plopped Jericho in there to spice things up. Well I didn't like the way that he spiced things up to say the least. I tried to open my mind up to liking him but there is just something about him that has my mind set at a firm no.
And lastly we have Kiran and Avalon. I can't say much about Kiran without giving away the ending of the book and spoiling it for everyone so I'll add my feeling on Avalon into this as well. Avalon is just your standard brother character to be honest. Nothing really stood out during the book that made him a standout character for me other then the ending that had me crying for him, but thats all I can say. Kiran, is it bad if I say I still semi like him after the ending? Yes? Well then. I thought he would turn out different in the end but I felt my heart break right along with Edens'. And thats all I will say about that because it still hurts to talk about.
Random bits of the book that I loved-
When Sepha (I have no idea how to spell and or say her name so that what were going to call her) has her melt down in the bathroom. My goodness. That was great.
The Walk that Eden had to do, while it took up quite a good part of the book, was so well written that I felt like I was right there along with her and didn't mind that it was a major focus point of the book. It was also so well explained that I didn't find myself getting confused at all, which lets face it can sometimes happen easily.
Theres also some witty humor in this book, I would say a little more then the first book which I liked. The end of this book had me feeling so many different emotions that I'm not even sure if this review is a great representation of them but after this book ended I'm still surprised I have the ability to feel anything. And I just feel like this series is getting better and better.

I feel like this has a good plot and story line but Eden just really annoyed me. She was really naive and didn't think things through. She was just focused on her love interest. But I did like how she was more focused at the end. Although it is sad that it took all those bad things to make her see that.
This is where it really started going down hill. BUT her power and strength in the ending were almost worth the torture.
Part two of the magic series. The story moves quickly and took some unexpected turns.
