The main character is frustratingly naive. It bothered me in the first book, but was almost unbearable in the second.
This book pisses me off so bad. I know things between Eden and Kiran improve, but it doesn't make me any more pleased. It seems very abrupt how things ended. It was more of a fog towards the ending.I must continue the series, but I am unhappy nonetheless.
Oh wow... how the tables have turned. Iām still reeling from that ending!!
Oh boy. There were even more things that annoyed the hell out of me in this book than the first, but I will say that this series still keeps me interested and wanting to read on. It has a decent cast of characters that I care about, and the pacing is still really engaging. I liked the love triangle in this book a lot.
First I want to get this minor annoyance out of the way: the author continually uses "I shook my head yes" rather than "nodded" and it drove me crazy!
Eden--I like her name, by the way--was so annoying in this book. She is just so obtuse and dumb, as well as insecure and self-doubting. Perhaps I am used to heroines being written as wiser than their years, but it's hard to listen to her inner monologue. I especially don't like all the blame she heaps on herself for not joining the resistance earlier, or for feeling guilty for loving Kiran, when there truly wasn't any reason for her to do so at the time.
It also annoys me how weak she is. She can't do anything on her own, has to be constantly protected, and even though she has immense powers, she rarely uses them. I honestly don't understand why she didn't use any of them at the end (at least not on the people who mattered). She just helplessly watched everything happen. Like girl, you command the wind! Do something with it!
The Kiran twist, I'm torn about. My first reaction was negative because it felt very out of the blue. I can see that the author laid hints and doubts, however, and perhaps I should appreciate the fact that Kiran isn't a one-dimensional or predictable character. His betrayal just seemed too extreme to really make sense. And Eden's epic wrathful inner monologue towards him at the end felt like a villain origin story š
I wish the caring sibling relationship with Avalon was developed a little better earlier on. There were things in both books that made me doubt Avalon's character and intentions, and there wasn't enough to redeem him 100% until the last half of this book, IMO. I would have have enjoyed and understood the relationships more if this was made more clear earlier on.

If I hear 'my prince my soulmate' one more blasted time I may shoot someone.
Giving up reading this its very clearly not aimed at my age group and more a first time reader of YA. I'm not bothered to read more.

AHHHH STUPID Eden!!! What the heck was she thinking?? DEB, KATHY read these books soon so we can talk about them!!!!
Lets just get it out there that I am so for Jericho! From the beginning!
I loved all the twists and turns and that Eden is still finding out that there is so much to her that she has no idea about. Great story! Going to start #3 now
