It might just be time for me to never pick up a Freida book again at this point.

Her work is so formulaic; and, after the same style of twists constantly, the pattern is so noticeable.

I’m disappointed because the first half WAS interesting, and it lost me during the first twist about halfway through because it was so obvious as soon as he arrived at Whitney’s house.

Time to go back to the drawing board because these past few releases feel the same.

I was in a reading slump and thought a McFadden popcorn thriller would help get me out of it. You definitely have to suspend your disbelief for this one, but McFadden always gets me with her twists and I couldn't have guessed it despite trying and thinking I had figured it out. There was some cringy dialogue and I didn't love how she wrote Blake's character.

This book makes me think of the card game called Cockroach Poker. What? You’ve never played it before? Ok,here’s the premise: There is no winner and there’s only one loser. Yep. That’s what this book is like. 😆 Well,I read a Freida McFadden. The chapters were like potato chips. I hated every character. The twists were twisting. Was it a mystery? No. Was it a thriller? Also,no. My husband asked me multiple times if I was ok because my face was visibly horrified while reading this. 😆😆😜🙃Will I read another one of these? Probably not. But damn, if it wasn’t a crazy time.

I enjoyed this book thoroughly. Though the characters weren’t likable, they weren’t annoying or grating, they were simply morally grey, and assholes. The final twist was perfect and made the book better. I liked how she sectioned the book and split perspectives at just the right point.

Overall, a great thriller that didn’t go where I thought it would. I just wish it hadn’t been quite so gross in parts.

Narrator Rating: 5.0 stars
The narrators did an amazing job; their voices felt like they fit how the characters would sound perfectly.
