I think this was another hit from Miss Freida! Even though I have read many books like this, it never ceases to keep me hooked and wanting more! The plot twist got me and even though it was a little far-fetched, I appreciated the way it all worked itself together. Short chapters, interesting plot and unreliable narrator. Ticked all my boxes!

I had a feeling early on that the twist would be what is was, but I was still hooked by how it all played out, and a couple of other twists added in there.

This book had me like 😮

And after telling my fiancé a run down of the plot (since she won’t read it), she was also like 😮

Though, I think I’ve figured out the formula for her books after this - but that would be a spoiler to say 🤭

This book will have you GRIPPED. From the horror of reality and making mortgage payments on time, this book just escalates in the best possible pacing. Freida builds up a perfectly crafted way to hit us readers with the twist.

The end though, felt a little rushed. I kept thinking some of these names at the end were previous characters that popped up in her books. Give us a multiverse 😂😂 but I love these unforgettable characters she crafts and the twisty stories ❤️

🐠 The Tenant by Freida McFadden 🐠

MY RATING: ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

Blake Porter’s life unravels after he’s abruptly fired and can’t afford his new brownstone. Desperate, he and his girlfriend, Krista, rent a room to Whitney—charming, beautiful, and seemingly perfect.
But soon, strange smells, eerie noises, and unsettling neighbors hint that something’s wrong.
By the time he realizes the danger is inside his own home, it’s already too late.

While I enjoyed reading this, I don’t think it was great. It was a quick and fast paced read with lots of plot twists, but I found them to be quite predictable. The characters also all sucked. There were so many ways this book could have ended that I felt would have been stronger, but overall, it was enjoyable to read. Also - Justice for Goldie!!!

Read this if you like:
  • roommate thriller
  • plot twists
  • unhinged characters
