Carrie Fisher is much missed and although this autobiography is very short (and one of many) her personality is on every single page.

The subject matter is quite deep, with Carrie going into detail about her struggles with drugs, alcohol and her mental health- but she adds a comedic spin to it which makes this book hilarious in places.

It’s not just about Star Wars, although she does talk about it fondly, and also not so fondly, being a young 19 year old woman in the first film there were going to be some points when she felt uncomfortable. Like George Lucas telling her she couldn’t wear a bra as there’s no underwear in space!

Despite the fact it flip flops back and forth between elements of her life she feels are important to share, it’s a really easy read. It’s not difficult to read because of the length, the way it’s written, and Carrie’s infectious humour.

I really enjoyed this book and I would definitely recommend it if you want to find out more about everyone’s beloved space princess that wasn’t shown in her films.

5/5 stars!

An insight into Carrie’s mental health, addiction and a section of her life. She tackles it with honesty, swearing and humour.

An absolute pleasure of a book, I respect her honesty around her life, how she started using drugs and her mental health, plus the insanity of her life at times. Like Cary Grant ringing her to discuss her “acid” addiction. It was opiates. As well as receiving ECT.

If I'm being honest, there were several parts of this memoir that were sad due to the circumstances surrounding Carrie Fisher's passing. This isn't the first time I've listened to a memoir after a celebrities passing however it's definitely one of the sadder ones due to her discussions of her addictions and mental illness. That being said, Carrie is G.Damn hilarious; I love the matter of fact way she tells some of the stories about her younger days and about her mom. One of my reactions to this memoir is that I decided I have to look into Debbie Reynolds' memoir(s) to see how she tells some of the same stories and what other stories she has to tell about her own Hollywood life. Carrie has an interesting way of looking at her Star Wars stardom that also makes me wonder how other actors and actresses famous for specific roles feel about those roles.

Although Carrie's ultimate outcome was not ideal after her personal battles, I still found her attitude in this memoir inspiring even though I don't struggle with the same problems. She definitely puts a lighthearted spin on her issues that I think could be helpful for others in similar positions.

If you're at all a Carrie Fisher fan, I definitely recommend this book.

For me, this was all about the audiobook narration. It was utterly brilliant to listen to Carrie's story in Carrie's voice. It's tragic in places but mostly it's just so darkly funny, and completely epitomises her.

This book did actually make me laugh out loud on occasion so I want to give it major credit for that. But I found about 25% of the narration to be kind of annoying (humor that missed the mark for me) and it was kind of repetitive.
