As always Cusk has both awed and inspired me. This work of autobiography is brilliant. Set around Cusk's separation from her husband this book is so much more than I expected it to be. It delves into themes like gender, what it means to be a woman, what it means to be a mother, what it means to be separated from the other parent. Both femininity and masculinity are explored, as well as feminism. At times highly philosophical alongside brilliant storytelling. It is well structured and reads away very easily. That last chapter, it seems to completely diverge from the rest of the book, at first, but it certainly has its place. Left very much open to interpretation. Very interesting! I think this is one of those books I will have to revisit over and over again. It's exactly the type of book that reminds me why I enjoy reading, as well as inspiring me writing wise.
