PERFECT! Hands down the best series that I read so far!
I was mad at the start because of Erik's appearance and Ailsa believing him over Vali - that irked me a little. But when she lost her memories, Ailsa questioned Erik every single second and I loved it! Ailsa continued to be brave, resilient, and strong throughout - and the spark never left. Vali was even more lovable in this book - his passion has no boundaries and I couldn't get enough of it. Together, without a shadow of a doubt - PERFECT! The plot twists were breathtaking and just like the first book, it wasn't predictable. I was left at the edge of my seat every moment. Another element that made this book incredible was the multiple POVs - whose voices were individual and personality - it was easy to differentiate the voices. The adventure, the fight scenes, the romantic moments - those were the highlights! The ending wrapped the story and the characters well and wasn't rushed.
I recommend this duology!!!

WOW! What an epic end to a beautiful duology filled with romance, vengeance, and action packed adventure! I absolutely loved returning to Ailsa and Vali’s story and enjoyed meeting all the new characters (even if Erik pissed me off for most of it 😅).  The ending was as epic as the classic tale of Ragnarok suggests. Alexis tied everything together so beautifully with the with both gut wrenchingly painful and heartwarming moments.

Run (do not walk) to read this series if you love:
✨ Norse mythology
✨ Ragnarok retelling
✨ Vikings and Fae
✨ Found family
✨ Second chance
✨ All the spice 🥵🥵🥵

I always enjoy reading Alexis L. Menard’s stories and can’t wait for the next one! Until then, I will be in my Viking and Norse Mythology era watching Vikings on Hulu 😅

I was so excited to get back into this dark mythology retelling by Alexis Menard! This Norse Romantasy picks back up with a horrible battle scene and Erik facing off with the Volva Witch. He continues his quest to rescue Ailsa from the Demon who captured her. Unfortunate for him, Ailsa and Vali (her supposed captor) seem to be doing just fine as they tangle up in each other's arms and wars. I really love Ailsa and her character gets more interesting and badass as the tale progresses. There is so much chemistry between the Heathen and her Dark Fae. Their fire and passion is perfection! Can you tell how much I love them? 😂 The last third of the book is full of nonstop, action packed, twisting and turning, revelations that end with a bang. I loved this 5 star fantasy and I hope you will grab the duology and join the fun.

“Some people don’t need the glory that comes with goodness. That’s what makes them the very best of beings.”

A pretty good conclusion for The Last Daughter duology, a fantasy romance with Norse Mythology vibes about betrayal, vengeance, love and fates.

The world building is fascinating as we go deeper to learn more about the Norse Mythology elements like the background story of some of the Gods and Goddess.
The plot is also filled with angsty moments and action-packed with great battle scenes.

Told in multiple POVs, the readers get insights not only for the main characters but the villain and also the secondary characters which is a great touch.
The new character addition which has a link to the title of the book is a nice surprise to the plot and I really enjoy that.

The main characters - Vali and Ailsa, are once again facing another obstacle with their relationship, I adore their strength together as a couple. Their love is prove that even if the mind forgets, the heart still remembers what they had and I love that about them.

As much as I like the plot and the romance, it took a while for me to understand what happen. This might happen since I already forgot what happen from the first book, so I suggest reading the first book or re-read it first before reading the sequel to refresh your memories.

Overall, it’s a pretty good sequel and as a duology I really like the unique plot and world building.
I’m looking forward to read other books from this author in the future!
