Not really my type of book. Caleb was whiny as hell.

This book chased me for decades. When I finally read it, I wondered what took me so long. A beautiful reflection on the times.

This is an example of excellent literature for children. It is written from the perspective of a pioneer girl whose mother died after giving birth to her little brother. Their father places an ad for a new wife, which brings Sarah into their lives. The book is entertaining and humorous at times, but is a good way to teach children a bit of history.

I had to read this in 4th grade, i didn't like it then. To this day I still don't know what I was suppose to get out of it. I remember it though and i know it was well written and a good story. Hopefully someone else will see what i missed.

intense and fun!

Such a sweet story. I loved it when I was little - I think it holds up!

Very short and sweet read. I will probably read it with my kids, as it has historical information and a plot that will bring good discussions and compassion for others.
