A nerve-wracking apocalyptic thriller. Much like the characters, I found myself teetering back and forth on what is actually happening. The truth of the matter is that I feel for some (most?) of the “guests,” as much I do Andrew, Eric, and Wen. I was stunned at the book making a painfully bold choice two-thirds of the way through, but that was just the icing on an already incredibly stressful cake. I really liked this and was glad that this was my entry point into the works of Paul Tremblay. For so long, my horror author knowledge was restricted to King and Koontz, but I am so happy to be finding that there are so many other masters in this field. I look forward to digging deeper into Tremblay’s works.

I don’t even know what I just read. I thought this would be a quick read because it’s shorter than other books I read but it took me so long to get through. I just didn’t really want to pick it back up. I enjoy M. Night Shyamalan movies and even though Knock at the Cabin looked a bit different than what I typically enjoy, I figured I would still give it a go to see what twists were in store. I was hoping the book was the same way. No twists and everything was already as I knew would happen that I was so confused when the book just ended. Hope the movie is a little better, but not high hopes.
