I read a million other books like this but Johnny and Shannon were just too cute. I won’t say anything else cause I have to start the second book immediately.

If this is love, then it’s you
Ugh Johnny and Shannon

This book took me on a rollercoaster of emotions going from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows. Even though at first I absolutely HATED this book, I don’t understand how anyone can finish this book without falling in love.

Binding 13 is so much more than a love story. It’s a story centered around one thing: vulnerability. Vulnerability is such a prevalent theme in this book coursing through both Johnny and Shannon’s veins.

This story starts off with us meeting the main character Shannon Lynch. Within in the first chapter we learn that she is moving from her old school (BCS) to Tommen as a way to escape the vicious bullying that has been happening to her since she first stepped foot into a school. We also learn that her brother, Joey, is her main protector, the one who will do anything for his sister, even if that means getting suspended. In this chapter we also get a glimpse of Shannon’s home life. We learn that she lives with an abusive dad, and a mom who is so use to the abuse that she doesn’t see a problem with it. Through this book, we see Shannon grow and grow.

Johnny Kavanagh, a star rugby player, has the perfect life on paper. A successful future with The Academy, girls who would kill to be seen with him, access to clubs, and a perfect, happy, and rich family. Even though he has all of this Johnny is dealing with the weight of a secret that could destroy his career before it even starts, a groin injury that despite his best efforts, hasn’t healed. Johnny tries to steer clear of any interruptions that would disrupt his career, that is until Shannon shows up. Shannon absolutely throws Johnny for a loop, and their relationship just continues to blossom throughout this whole book.

Even though I absolutely HATED this book for the first 16% of it. I’m so glad that I did not dnf it. This book is one that I think everyone should read.

My favorite quotes:
-“Shannon Lynch had eyes the color of midnight blue that wouldn’t stay the fuck out of my head.”
-“I’ll look after you.”
-“‘Which one?’… ‘She Will Be Loved.’”
-“But I felt like I was drowning with her. That’s how consumed I was in this girl. That’s how much I loved her.”
