This is a throw away style adventure book. That said, I liked the historical interplay with the characters. Overall, having some familiarity with the Assassins Creed video game probably helps, but isn't required. This could be a great plane or train read. Nothing too complicated, but fun and fast.

What you would expect form a book based off games I think. It all felt a little rushed and there wasn't much elaboration or description in a lot of places.
I remember playing Ezio's story very well and so I did struggle a lot with not just picturing playing the game as I read. However it was good to have a more streamline reminder of the story (without all those sode quests).
I am looking forward to reading the books about the Assasins Creed games I didn't play so I know their story.

It's quite enjoyable. It actually reads like a video game, where the protagonist has to complete tasks and missions as a way to improve his weaponry and to get artifacts (in this case pages of a Codex) to unveil some greater power. It was nice to see how the Assassin could have played a role on various moments of Renaissance Italy. :P

I liked it so much I had to get my hands on the video games. I regret nothing!

The Portuguese translation sucks, other than that is a fast pace, easy read.

I've never played the game - I'm no gamer, be it board games, computer games, whatever games - but I love fantasy and scifi, and as there's a film coming out based on Assassin's Creed I thought I'd do some reading to familiarise myself with that world. I've heard nothing but rave reviews from those who play AC; the artwork looks stunning and there are just so many interesting characters in the game.

And so I picked up this book, much looking forward to being entertained. See, I wasn't expecting an intricately written novel but this? I was not prepared for this nonsensical, badly written book.

The writing is clumsy, the characters remain one-dimensional, the action sequences are laughable... seriously, I've read fanfiction that's far above this published book where writing and storytelling is concerned. Come to think of it... I think browsing AO3 for AC fics might be a good idea, now that I've mentionend it.

The only thing I did like was how historical characters were weaved into the story. Leonardo da Vinci, for example - I could absolutely see him like that. Bowden obviously knows the Renaissance period, and that I did enjoy.

Glad I bought this book from a secondhand dealer. So not worth it.
