Marin is a cautious person. Sadie is the polar opposite. Marin gave up her dreams the day her mother died, and she took care of her little sister Sadie from then on. Marin, a ball of nerves, had never even flown, where as her sister traveled country to country taking pictures. Sadie somehow convinces Maren to take a trip to a beautiful island called Saba. Marin agrees, and at the last minute, Sadie stands Marin up.
At first, I found Marin to be obnoxious. I'm glad I kept reading because she really grew on me. This book made me laugh, cry and sometimes want to yell. I wish the ending had a little more detail, but overall I really enjoyed this book.

4.5! I don't remember the last time I had a book actually make me cry?? Like many other reviewers I expected this to be a fun lighthearted rom com. It was not that. But I really loved it and I zoomed through it to see what was going to happen next. It was so sweet and heartwarming and I would be surprised if no one ever turns this into a movie in the future. Love!

read this with alivia as a summer buddy-read! came in the Once Upon A Book Club box that i got her for her bday (and got one for myself too). a fun book to read along with the surprise gifts structure of the box making it immersive. loved the tropical setting of this book and the various plot twists and how the scope of the story and what you as the reader knew slowly broadened over the course of the book. however, i had a few issues with the book. as i recall no clear description of the island was ever given which i found very disorienting. i also found Lucas to be a somewhat under-developed love interest. i never felt like i really knew much about him. other than his physical attractiveness, i kept finding myself asking “what’s his allure?”

a good read, a fun start to the summer, but not necessarily my fav tropical romance ever :)

This was a nice (albeit heart breaking ) women's fiction novel.
The romance sweet and light. Every was closed door. I felt like there was a lot of telling and it felt long in places.
Lucas is a dream boyfriend.
Sadie.. broke my heart.

I bought this book at Target figuring it'd be a solid pick for a Beach Read 2k21. I was sold when I realized the characters lived in one of my personal favorite places in the world, Chattanooga. And then I promptly fell apart on the beach when I realized what the twist was (that I saw coming from 20 miles away but wanted so desperately to not be the case) and had to go get a pina colada to deal with my emotions. A fabulous book that spoke to my soul and anxiety and apprehensiveness about life in general when it comes to always playing it safe - I feel like if I didn't relate to Marin on a lot of those fronts, I wouldn't have enjoyed this as much as I did. Thanks, Sadie.

I couldn't put this book down. I cried A LOT and although it took what felt like forever to get to the romance that you knew was coming it was definitely worth the wait. Super cute and emotional.

Enjoyed the story and the relationships. Did not enjoy the audible version of this, never could get used to the voices at any speed!
