Don't expect a romcom or beach read. Huge content warnings: cancer and grief. These are not incidental, they're half the story arc.

Based on the cover, title and blurb this book was not at all what I expected, and not in a good way. In all honesty, I feel a bit mis-sold.
I was really looking for an upbeat romcom, instead this is a story about grief and loss which has a secondary romance plot line. I enjoyed the travel aspects of this novel, and the romance element was cute, but overall this wasn’t for me. Please check warnings before reading - in various ways this is not a happy read.

Don’t be fooled by the cover, this story is not a fluffy romcom. It’s heart-wrenching and you’ll need tissues handy. This was the kind of book I had avoided for a while because I knew it was about grief and I wasn’t ready to handle it yet. Now that I felt ready, I am so glad that I read it. Meet Me in Paradise is a beautiful and emotional read. The romance is a secondary plot to the story of Marin dealing with overcoming her fears and gaining her emotional strength. Libby writes this story in a way that I felt connected to the characters and could relate my own personal experiences to Marin’s. The descriptions of the island and more importantly, the people, of Saba are quite amazing. If you’re in the mood for a book that will make you feel some true emotions based on a beautifully told story, pick up Meet Me in Paradise.

Meet Me in Paradise is the first book that I have read in 2023 which made me sobbed. I knew going into this story that this book was emotional. However, I was not prepared for how much crying I would be doing. I am glad I was listening to the audiobook because I don't think I could have read with my eyes.

This book follows Marian as she learns to live. To try adventure because she kinda stopped living after her mother died.
Her sister created this beautiful journey. And the tears start coming around 3/4 of the way done because you slowly realize the sister is dying
It's a journey of two sisters choosing to grief in two very different ways. A story that life doesn't have to stop when things become hard. There are some humorous scenes as well.
Like when her underwear is being displayed for everyone in the plane to see
Overall, I thought this was a beautiful book that really showcased grief, love, family. I'm not sure I can write much more because my eyes are still very swollen from crying my eyes out while reading this book.

It was cute with lots of character growth.

I would have cried, (TW: topics of cancer and death of loved ones) but I wasn’t very attached to these characters. I don’t know why. Something was off. Still a sold binge-worthy Summer read!!

I loved Lucas. He was adorable and definitely a new book boyfriend for sure!! 💛

I was looking for a romcom. Instead, I found a book that made me cry, and I almost never cry at books.
