A kind of silly premise for a book with so much heart and depth. I was surprised by how much I loved it. Lampo is a mildly upsetting main character but him and Gellan are so single minded and true and naive in their love for the arts and inability to see how horribly everything will go. The arc of the story was in itself a Greek tragedy. Lyra being sold was CLASSIC tragedy and I saw it coming in a way that was so deliciously painful and sad. Also the part where Lampo wouldn't turn around to talk to her - he's stronger than Orpheus was and it still didn't work. It's a sad song. The ending and epilogue were perfect. Also, the audiobook read in an Irish voice, complete with the Irish-isms, was so perfectly absurd. Idk if everyone would enjoy this and it's hard to explain but I loved it.
