Adelina is such an interesting character who I love but also am scared of and also don't like. She spends so much time out of control and brings darkness, anger and fear with her. The story this time around felt much more intense with more at stake. The new characters slipped into the story seamlessly and brought with them a whole new range of magic. The fight scenes were incredibly written, every movement and action was clear and concise and even with so many characters involved, I still knew exactly where everyone was and what they were doing.

Wow. Das Ende des zweiten Bandes hat alles nochmal wirklich rausgerissen. Adelina's fortschreitender Abstieg in den Wahnsinn wird gut geschildert und ist definitiv das Highlight der Reihe, denn hier wurde eine düstere Geschichte geschaffen. Auch sonst schreckt die Autorin vor nichts zurück, wodurch die Reihe sich von anderen abheben kann.
Des Weiteren ist der Schreibstil angenehm und die Handlungen werden verständlich und angenehm ausgeschmückt beschrieben.
Jedoch ist die neu eingeführte Liebes"beziehung" ein Rätsel für mich. Die kam aus dem Nichts und ist überhaupt nicht nachvollziehbar. Das hätte man ausarbeiten müssen oder gar komplett weglassen sollen, da der Band das gar nicht brauchte und auch nicht davon profitiert hat.
Alles in allem ist Band 2 eine solide Fortsetzung, doch mir fehlte etwas, was mir auch in Band 1 schon gefehlt hat. Leider kann ich nicht benennen, was dies konkret sein könnte, aber ehrlichgesagt: Ich glaube ich bin einfach schon aus der Reihe rausgewachsen und lese sie auch nur, weil die noch in meinem Bücherregal rumstand. Das jugendliche Ich hätte die Reihe bestimmt sehr geliebt.

There is really a lot to this series. I have read the first two stories and am currently impatiently waiting for the next book... I am holding out my judgement on what I think the author is trying to say with the series until I've actually read the entire story arc... but so far I'm really impressed. Very good characterization, a lot of unexpected story twists, (much like life,) and excellent world-building.
